Alex Hormozi on business & sales
Hormozi sees business as a game of focus and volume: pick ideas from your own pain, profession or passion, drop the shame, and then pour more into whatever already works instead of chasing novelty or optimizing conversion rates. Strategy is just prioritization, compounding rewards sticking with one thing, and the company you build is capped by the people in it and the behaviors your culture rewards.

“If you're under 30, you have no reason not to go 100% all-in on your goals. The downside is nothing and the upside is everything.”

“So, I routinely get asked the secret to success. And it just comes down to this. Number one, get better. Number two, never stop. If you do only those two things, you will win on a long enough time horizon. The problem is people convince themselves they no longer want something once they see the experience of how hard it really is. So I want to set this expectation for you as you head off to practice scripts, mark your calendar, and set your alarms. The work begins when your motivation ends. Just win.”

“For me it's always been about autonomy. I just be able, I want to be able to do what I find interesting, and that's been the core of it. And what I do will change, but the core of having the freedom to do it has been the center of it. And so for me I don't think my freedom has, I mean, not in recent history, my freedom hasn't fundamentally changed in any way. And so I would say that I'm the same level of contentedness as I was last year, but I find engagement in what I do, and that's, I'll give you my definition of happiness, which is doing what you like to do with people you like and doing that as much as you possibly can, and that's my simple definition.”

“Whenever I approach something that I don't know how to do, it always feels amorphous. It's like this big thing and I don't know where to start. Like how do I grab onto a piece of it? And so having gone and attacked like these amorphous things like start a business which actually means nothing. You have to break things down to much smaller steps of action. That's why for me the most basic thing to start a business is like get an LLC, open a bank account, have the ability to process money, and then ask a stranger if you can do something for them in exchange for money. As soon as you do those four things, congratulations, you're a business owner.”
